Working as an illustrator can become a solitary and static business, so how about getting out in the hills or joining the rush hour? There are many models of Illustration Van available, as we discovered in today’s Portfolio and CV building workshop, from plain white to Heath-Robinson contraptions which you can sleep in, fly, use to promote green messages… even invisible ones.
A van made of paper is of course a memorable substitute for the standard business card, and easy to store flat. Just add colour, and a road map.
“To put a city in a book, to put the world on one sheet of paper – maps are the most condensed humanised spaces of all… They make the landscape fit indoors, make us masters of sights we can’t see and spaces we can’t cover.”
– Robert Harbison, Eccentric Spaces
