Drawing exercise: 25 faces from memory


How many people did you see today, really? Here’s a great memory drawing exercise. As you stroll through town or a public event, notice and remember six to a dozen people. Draw them when you get home. Like most drawing, it’s good for seeing in slow motion and peering through the blur of everyday life at something clear. Picasso asks: “What is a face. Really?” This goes some way to ask that question.
